Am I Eligible for housing?

The Almshouses are intended for people over 60 years of age who are retired and in need.  Prospective residents are interviewed by the Trustees to ensure they are eligible.

There is a criteria that Plymouth Charity Trust have to adhere to when finding a resident for the Almshouses which is:-

  • Residents have to be over the age of 60.
  • No pets, other than caged birds or fish, can be kept.
  • Must be able to live independently.

How much does it cost for housing?

For Heles Terrace:

The current weekly rent charge is £123 per week (no service charge). Residents do not have to pay water rates and are entitled to a £7.50 per year concessionary TV Licence fee. The total rent qualifies for Housing Benefit and support costs are paid to us direct.

For Lanyon House:

The current weekly rent charge is £123 per week with a service charge of £30.00 per week to cover fuel costs. Residents do not have to pay water rates and are entitled to a £7.50 per year concessionary TV Licence fee. The total rent charge qualifies for Housing Benefit, with support costs paid to us direct.
